Students Communicating Science - march 2011
Communicating scientific research to a lay audience is the aim of Science for All, the UCC postgraduate public presentation competition taking place at UCC on Wednesday, March 30th 2011.
Topics such as Ocean Energy, Colon Cancer, Functional Food, Quantum vs Classical Worlds, Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Ultra Cold Atoms will be presented at the event which aims to encourage young scientists to communicate the results of their research to the general public in an easily understandable manner.
The panel of judges for the Final will be chaired by Ms Jennie O’Sullivan, RTE News Cork and also includes Mr Niall Murray, Education Correspondent , Irish Examiner, Mr Trevor Holmes, Vice President for External Affairs, UCC and Ms Siobhan Murphy, PharmaChemical Ireland. The competition is jointly organised by the College of Science, Engineering and Food Science, the Alimentary Pharmabiotic Centre, UCC and Tyndall National Institute. This year’s competition has been sponsored by the Alimentary Pharmabiotic Centre, the Tyndall Institute, and Snap Printing.

Grace O’Callaghan, Department of Medicine, UCC
Laura Russell, Department of Physics and Tyndall National Institute, UCC
The Final will take place at 7pm on Wednesday, March 30th in Lecture Theatre Boole 2, UCC.
All are welcome and admission is free.
