APC-associated Labs win three Irish Lab Awards
Many congratulations to our Principal Investigators Prof. Catherine Stanton and Dr Paul Cotter whose labs were announced as winners at the 2018 Irish Lab Awards.
- Catherine Stanton APC Microbiome Ireland Lab at Teagasc – Academic or Research Laboratory of the Year and Healthcare Laboratory of the Year Award
- Paul Cotter Vision 1 Food Research Lab, Teagasc – Food Laboratory of the Year
Catherine is a Principal Research Officer at Teagasc and a Research Professor at UCC. Catherine’s research focuses on nutritional aspects of dairy and functional foods including bioactive lipids and peptides, probiotics and infant gut microbiota. Catherine previously received the Scientist of the Year and Healthcare Lab of the Year(2017).
Dr Paul Cotter is Head of Food Biosciences at Teagasc. His research interests include the microbiology of food and fermented foods, the food chain and human and animal guts, as well as antimicrobial peptides/bacteriocins. Paul’s lab has been awarded the Irish Food Lab of the Year title on three previous occasions (2013,’16 & ’17) and Commercial Laboratory of the Year (2017).
Launched in 2013, The Irish Laboratory Awards has established itself as the premier event in Ireland for benchmarking those that demonstrate excellence, best practice and innovation in Ireland’s laboratories.
